Church of the Incorporated
I know I’ve written a little about this before but last night I had another perspective and with a fancier title. An issue that is close to my heart.
I freelance creative work and was toying with the idea of incorporating that little side business so as to move all liabilities to my business as opposed to me, personally. Almost immediately I was struck with the similarity in churches.
We as individuals have incorporated. We call our business Church. We go about saying what has “The Church” done, or why can’t “The Church” do this or we even hear pastors preach about people being offended or wounded by “The Church” - We just incorporated so as to move all liabilities to The Church and avoid dealing with the root - us. Us (I really mean me here) as individuals who don’t walk out their relationship with Christ, us who offend people, us who avoid helping the poor, the widows, proclaiming the Gospel.. the list goes on.
On the day of judgment, we won’t be tried as a corporation - The Church, but as individuals. It is time we as individuals walked out our faith, cried out to God, seek and do His will. The Church would then grow and people would actually “buy stock”.
