Disney Worship.
Maybe it is just me. Maybe it is just where I am at right now. When I pick up my guitar and get my wife to join me in worshiping The Lord I have no trouble in finding songs. The trouble is when I pick up the guitar and want to worship by myself. I tend to sing (at least want to) songs that are really personal to me, the cry of my heart. Thats when I struggle to find songs that fit.
I then yank out old folder with song sheets looking for songs that I could sing and I see song after song after song with what once seemed like good lyrics but now seem like a Disney produced worship song. I can see the glitter and shine and people dressed in happy colors singing perfect songs about happiness and love and dreams.
I do love those songs and probably used it for my personal time of worship a number of times but when I was looking for a nice rich, lyrically and scripturally, song, these just seemed like songs about mermaids and princesses and unicorns in a pink and glittery world.
Maybe it is me but I found myself playing some old time Andy Park whose lyrics drip with scripture. Time to write a song, I guess!
