“Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess.” I’m not sure about the origin of that song but I sang that as a kid growing up in the Roman Catholic church. 20 odd years later I understand the meaning. That is one of the reasons this website exists.

In about 2001 when I was in India, the pastor and the worship team that I was in, had been praying for songs to be birthed, for new songs to come out of the church. One evening, during one of the worship team hang-outs, the pastor brought in a white board and a marker and had the worship team spend some time in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to give us lyrics.

One by one, as we felt the Lord had given us lyrics, we got up and wrote them down on the white board. After the last one was done, we had a song that flowed, that fit together, though written by different people not knowing what the previous person had written. We did some tweaking and we fine tuned the lyrics.

Next step was to find a melody. Somebody picked up a guitar and played a groove, the worship leader began singing. The Holy Spirit had given us the lyrics and the melody in about an hour. A song that came through individuals, to form one message. To form a song of worship, forged in unity.

Needless to say, that experience has impacted me and has since been driving me to do that on a larger scale. Rather than with 5 people in a room, but with thousands of God’s people across the world, writing new songs of worship, in unity.

It is practicing heaven.
